Andrew ran his first 5k in 2012 and became addicted to the sport almost overnight. He loves how distance running rewards consistency, persistence, and the willingness to step out of one's comfort zone (i.e. embrace the hills and the sultry Kansas City summers). He has raced in over 40 half marathons and run the distance (his favorite) countless times in training and strongly believes that the SmartPacing strategy brings the best results, as there is nothing negative about running negative splits! Join him in a race if you want to have a lot of fun while giving it 100%.

Matt started running cross country in high school after getting cut from the soccer team, and quickly fell in love with distance running. The camaraderie of group runs, the calm of a long solo run, and the thrill of racing are all integral parts of Matt's life. Matt has been a distance runner for 20 years, building up from 5k's to marathons and a couple ultras (not too many of those though!) Matt has completed over 60 half marathons and 28 marathons, and has paced over 15 events. He is looking forward to helping people meet their goals as a pacer!

Marvin has been pacing for a couple of seasons and has been running since the 1970's. His first marathon was the Kansas City Macy's Marathon in 1981 and first half was Hospital Hill in 1979. He has run 30+ marathons and a collection of ultra's including the Leadville 100 in 2013. Marvin loves motivating runners and will help you dig deep. "It's all about the Pace"

Stephanie started running for fun and as a way to keep in shape in between weekend soccer games about 7 years ago. She signed up for her first half in 2012, and became hooked on distance running. She has run everything from a 5k to a 50k, and is the current Missouri women's record holder at the 50k distance in her age group. She enjoys recovery runs with her dachshund Norman. She has ran 17 full marathons to date, including 2 consecutive Boston Marathons and 3 consecutive Chicago Marathons! She looks forward to helping people meet personal running goals, while making the marathon experience a great one!

Greg has run competitively for 30 years. He has completed 54 marathons, including the Boston Marathon 5 times, and over 100 half marathons. He is a 9 year breast cancer survivor. Greg enjoys helping others meet their goals and his enthusiasm towards running is infectious.

Danny M. - 2:00 pacer

Danny began running marathons with the 2005 Chicago Marathon and has completed more than 50 marathons and ultra-marathons since then—including two 100-mile races. He also once ran 120 miles of a 200 mile race, but quit once he realized 200 miles was a long way.

He tends to believe in having fun during a race while getting you to the finish line in mostly one piece. So, expect random trivia, pointless stories and occasional costume when running with him.

Danny recently got his son Toby to sign up for his first marathon. Unfortunately, Toby has had some difficulty with the training plan—sitting in a stroller for four hours is exhausting.

Wael S. - 2:00 pacer

Wael has been running since 2008. He has completed several ultra trail races, several half marathons and full marathons. He enjoys trail running with the Kansas City Trail Nerds. Wael completed three 100 mile ultra runs with a sub-24 hour finish in Feb, 2014.

Chad got into running after his first of two ACL surgeries. His goal with any race is to finish and have a good time doing it. Chad enjoys helping fellow athletes hit their goals and is happy to answer any (ANY) questions they may have along the way. Chad's racing history is marked with half marathons, marathons, Ironman 70.3s (Half Ironman) and he completed his first full distance Ironman in 2010.

Molly started running shortly after moving to KC. She has now completed numerous half-marathons, and enjoys running on Saturday mornings with Runner's Edge. She looks forward to encouraging and helping the running community accomplish their personal goals! Molly has helped friends achieve PRs during races and has encouraged friends/family all the way to the top of numerous 14ers in Colorado! She can't wait to cross the finish line with you.

Bridget B. - 2:20 pacer

Bridget has been a running enthusiast for over 25 years. She ran for William Jewell College setting several school and conference records. She was later inducted into the WJC Hall of Fame for her contributions on the track. Out of college, she focused her passion for running on coaching high school track and cross country and has been doing so for almost 20 years. She trains with her HS athletes and loves encouraging them on their runs. She has competed in numerous road races over the years: 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons. When not running she loves to teach chemistry, cheer on her husband and kids in their endeavors, and hike 14K mountains with her "summit sistas". Bridget is beyond excited to help those in her pace group to achieve their goals and to have a blast while doing so!

Lauren started running several years ago when she was looking for a way to get outside and stay fit in college. Since then, she has completed numerous 5ks, 10ks, ten half marathons and two full marathons. Lauren loves the mental challenge of long-distance running and meeting new people from the running community. She has used the pacers to meet her goals and now wants to help others do the same. She uses the SmartPace strategy, warming up the first couple of miles, taking time to walk through the aid stations, and finishing strong. Cristal LOVES pacing any distance from 5K to 26.2. A fitness instructor & born optimist, Cristal loves to run at a conversational pace, enjoying a walk break through each water station, with enough time to thank volunteers and high-five as many cheering kids along the course as possible. She believes anyone can run a half or full marathon with the right attitude and a little ambition, you've just got to run Smart & keep going. Her personal goal is to complete her 50 states by her 50th birthday (39 down, 11 to go!), and maybe someday run just fast enough to BQ. She looks forward to meeting you & helping you cross the finish line exactly on time (or a little early =0).

Melissa started running on Mother's Day 2012, and hasn't looked back since. Melissa runs long on Saturday mornings, changing locations throughout the city, and always enjoys a good cup of coffee afterwards. She cross trains several days a week, and really enjoys yoga and CrossFit. Since starting to run she has completed 44 half marathons, and countless shorter distance races. She is an active member of KC Express, and a Half Fanatic (#4222). Look for her at local races and be sure to say hello. Melissa is a wife and mother to two young boys. Be prepared to chat the 13.1 miles, listen to her sing (badly), and discuss the latest and greatest tv shows or movies. Kelly has been pacing half and full marathons since 2009. She follows the Smart Pacing philosophy - starting out slow to warm up, taking it easy on the uphills, taking advantage of the downhills, and walking through every aid station to fully hydrate. She is fully focused on helping each runner achieve their race goal while having fun along the way. Her goal is to have her runners cross the finish line ahead of her with a smile on their face!

Baylie J. - 2:45 pacer

Baylie discovered her love for running while in middle school and spent her high school and college years sprinting around the track. After an 8 year (ish) gap, she re-discovered her love but decided to add a few more miles and started running 5ks and 10Ks. In 2012, she finally settled on the Garmin Half Marathon as her first and didn't look back after that. Since then she has completed over 15 half marathons and 5 marathons, which qualified her to be a member of Marathon Maniacs (#7914) in 2013. Earlier in 2015, she completed her first Ultra Marathon 50K (Virtual Cowtown) and followed it up with a solo finish of Brew to Brew and an attempt at the Canadian Death Race in August. She is very excited to do everything she can to help each runner finish and have a wonderful time while doing so!

Cynthia S. - 2:50 pacer

Cynthia has been a pace group leader for The Runner's Edge for 13 years. By employing the SmartPace strategy, Cynthia has successfully completed 11 ultras (road and trail), 38 marathons and 43 halves. She was awarded the Road Runner's Club of America Grand Master Award for her finish in the 2010 Brew-to-Brew solo. Cynthia believes running comes from the head, the heart and the gut. She works with her group to use all those to your advantage. And she really enjoys encouraging others to do what they've never done before -- to run farther, to run faster or just to run! And having fun is the best part of it all. Her strategy is to go out slow for the first 2-3 miles, run a mile and then walk a minute, walk through the aid stations for up to a minute, go very slow up hills and make up the time on the down hills while making sure you have even effort breathing the whole time.

Lindsey was active in high school and ran for fitness off and on through college. After the birth of her son in 2014, she picked up running to lose the baby weight. She set a goal in 2015 to run her first half marathon - and she has since run numerous half marathons, a couple marathons, and a few ultra marathons! What started as fitness goals, running became a passion and a way to relax and unwind. Lindsey is eager to encourage other people to run their best race.

Brandy H. - 3:00 pacer

Brandy has been running for seven years now. Her love of running began after hiking trails and Long's Peak in the Colorado rockies. Since then, she has completed 16 half marathons, 6 marathons, 20 ultra marathons (from 50Ks to 100 milers) and summited six Colorado 14ers. She has paced many ultra marathoners, helping them to conquer their goals. Friendships, fun, and accomplishment is what Brandy enjoys most about running. She looks forward to helping others accomplish their goals too by using a smart pacing strategy, lots of cheering, and many high fives.
