Blaine has been an avid runner for 20+ years. Throughout his tenure, he has certainly learned a lot the "feel," for the right pace. Blaine's goals are to help others achieve their personal goals. Blaine focuses on avoiding the adrenaline that comes with race day, so that you can feel great and finish strong towards the end when it really counts!

Zach B. - 1:35 pacer
Zach started running long distance in 8th grade track. After running in high school and then college for two years, in 2008 he swore he would never do a marathon. Now 20+ marathons/ultras later, he can't get enough of it! Even though he continues to race, he prefers pacing runners much more. He loves seeing runners accomplish their goals and dig deeper than they knew possible.

Peter E. - 1:35 pacer
Peter Euler has lived in Kansas for over 25 years and ran in college at Hutchinson Community College and Pittsburg State University. He is an avid runner who has completed over 20 marathons in 15 states and hopes to complete one in all 50 states some day. He works full-time for the Kansas Army National Guard and has deployed three times. Her truly enjoys running and helping others learn to see the benefits of running and completing challenges. Look for the Army 10-Miler Shirt that says "I Will Never Quit" on the back and we'll get through and help meet your goals together.

Jeremy V. - 1:40 pacer
Jeremy Vrentas has lived in the Kansas City area his whole life. He just picked up running almost 4 years ago in hopes to do a 5k. Since then he has completed over 25+ Half marathon races and 3 Full marathons. He also along with just running does Triathlons. Garmin half marathon will be his first pacing duty and hopes to make it a great experience for the runners who around the 1:55 pace!

Matt O. - 1:40 pacer
Matt started running cross country in high school after getting cut from the soccer team, and quickly fell in love with distance running. The camaraderie of group runs, the calm of a long solo run, and the thrill of racing are all integral parts of Matt's life. Matt has been a distance runner for 20 years, building up from 5k's to marathons and a couple ultras (not too many of those though!) Matt has completed 46 half marathons and 16 marathons, and is looking forward to helping people meet their goals as a pacer!

Rob M. - 1:45 pacer
Rob started running in 2008 because it was a cheap way to stay in shape during college. His competitive nature pushed him to go further and faster over time and eventually led to him participating in half and full marathons. Since 2010, he has completed about 20 half marathons, 11 marathons, and one ultra-marathon. His training has improved his half marathon time by more than 19 minutes and his full marathon time by more than 50 minutes. The SmartPace teams have had a large role in Rob’s improvement, and he looks forward to helping others improve as well.

Brandon S. - 1:45 pacer
Brandon has been an avid runner ever since he discovered the sport during his sophomore year of high school. This passion has lead him to run 2 marathons (Lincoln 2004 and Colorado 2011), 15k's, 10k's and numerous 5k's. Brandon has recently has recharged his enthusiasm with running to strive to achieve new heights he never ever thought were possible. In September of 2012, Brandon completed the North Face Endurance Challenge 50 Miler in Wisconsin in 8 hours and 30 minutes. It remains his most proudest running achievement to date. Living in Papillion Nebraska, Brandon continues to foster the love of the sport now as a Half-Marathon Pacer. He has paced over 10+ times using the SmartPacing Strategy. He knows his high energy, outgoing personality, and fun spirit will lead everyone to their goals on race day. Brandon can't wait to be a part of your PR experience.

Running is something Derek started doing in college as a reason to put off studying. Now it is something he does as a hobby and to meet new people. He has ran a few 5 and 10K’s but prefers half and full marathons. His favorites so far have been Rock the Parkway half and Berlin Marathon. Sundays are by far his favorite running day because he gets to meet up with others for a long run and share running stories. He look forward to meeting you to hear your story and provide you the motivation you need in earning the PR that you have trained for.

Ryan B. - 1:50 pacer
Ryan has been an avid runner since high school cross country, continuing to run throughout the years for enjoyment and fitness. After taking a break from racing, he got hooked again with a 5k in the spring of 2013 which led to his first half marathon at the KC half that fall. He has run several 5ks, 3 10ks, 6 half marathons, and 3 full marathons. He completed the I-35 Challenge in 2014, running the KC Marathon and Des Moines Marathon on consecutive days.
The best advice he can give any long distance runner is to train consistently, build your base slowly, and incorporate a variety of different workouts to improve different aspects of your fitness. Also finding at least one consistent training partner will help motivate you and keep things fun. Ryan is quick to make friends and wants to hear about your goals and progress. This will help him push you to run your best and celebrate with you when you cross the finish line!

Erik B. - 1:55 pacer
Erik started running in 2009 to lose weight and get in shape. He ran his first race in 2012 which was a 10k. He has continued to run and enjoy it. He has ran all race distances up to marathon distance. This year he completed his first Ironman triathlon. This will be his first time pacing.

June began running to lose weight in 2010 and ran her first race, a 5K, in 2011. That first race led to other races and then training for a half marathon. Since then she has run 14 half marathons, 4 marathons, numerous triathlons of varying distances and in October 2016 completed her first Ironman Triathlon.

Wael has been running since 2008. He has completed several ultra trail races, several half marathons and full marathons. He enjoys trail running with the Kansas City Trail Nerds. Wael completed three 100 mile ultra runs with a sub-24 hour finish in Feb, 2014.

Jen T. - 2:00 pacer
Jen is a lifelong runner, mostly running for fun and fitness, until finding longer races in 2007. She completed her first marathon in 2008. Marathons #14 and 15 are planned this spring. In 2011 she moved to the Kansas City area and was thrilled to find a vibrant running community after living in the middle of nowhere for many years. She runs most of her miles with a crazy group of friends at 5 am before work, and is grateful that someone is always is willing to meet her and keep her company for a run. She loves running with friends, old and new, and will consider you a friend from the first few steps!
Jen loves the Smart Pacing philosophy, especially starting slower to warm up, and running even effort on the hills. She can’t wait to help you meet your goals on the road!

Eduwin is currently a Marine, He started to run long distances since 2012, his first competitive race was at his local duty station in Charlotte NC and in no time he enjoyed running longer distances. Now running has become his passion and stress release. He has completed over 20 half marathons to include virtuals, one 50K and 10 marathons. Eduwin loves to motivate others to stay fit and he looks forward to motive you to achieve your running goals.

Alayna has cultivated a great love for running over the last 8 years. She has completed 7 half-marathons and 1 marathon. She greatly enjoys running with others and has developed great friendships as a result of this shared interest. Although this is her first time pacing, she is very excited to encourage and uplift those who will be running with her! Runners can expect to have a great time, laugh, and have the miles fly by on race day. Alayna is happy to help others reach their running and racing potential, and have a great time while doing it!

After years of wrestling in junior high, high school and college Sean needed to find a way to stay active and compete. He spent several years trying different things out. He ran 3 full and 3 half marathons, a triathalon, duathalons, trail racing and mountain bike racing before he found Adventure racing and Obstacle racing. He competed in 4 Tough Mudders, 4 Spartan Races and many smaller obstacle races. In 2014 he got back into road races because his 6 year old wanted to do some races with him. He trains with the KCTC Max team and is excited to help you reach the finish line.

Mandy is mother of 4 kids ages 10, 8, 4, and 2. She finds running to be a way to stay in shape for her busy life. She has even gotten her family to participate in running with her husband and two oldest kids running in many local 5K together. Long distance races are her favorite as it gives her time to clear her head and reset. She thinks pacers are really important support tools for those greater distances and is looking forward to being part of that support system.

I am an avid endurance athlete competing in: Ironman Triathlons, Ironman 70.3 Triathlons, Sprint Triathlons, Ultra Marathons, Marathons, Half Marathons and local 10k and 5k races. These taking place all over the United States.
My favorite running event is the marathon. It’s a great experience! There are people everywhere; runners and fellow competitors swarming all over the place. One really feels a sense of unity and solidarity as we all run and cheer together as one. In the life of an endurance athlete, it is a huge milestone. It’s a race we will never forget. No two marathons are ever alike. Each has story of its own. The sense of pride that overcomes you as you cross that finish line is indescribable, truly making it an extremely rewarding endeavor.

Joshua started running back in 2009 when he heard a friend talking about the experience of running a Marathon. He trained and completed his first Marathon in October of 2009 at the Waddell and Reed Marathon. He loves the challenge that running brings. Since then he has ran over 20 Half-Marathons, 6 Marathons (including Pikes Peak marathon), and over 20 Ultra-Marathons (up to 100 miles). Josh is family guy, he loves crossing the finish line with his kids when the race allows it. They are his support and motivation for running.

Richard Anderson is 55 years old and has a checkered running carrer. He started running in 1999 and ran many half marathons and 3 fulls. He was injured in 2003 and gained a lot of weight. After losing 40 pounds he hit the road again in 2013. In the past year he has completed 6 Halfs and qualified for Boston 2017 at the Kansas City Marathon. He ran with smart pacers to several PRs. He is looking forward to helping others achieve their goals with Smart Pacing.

Aaron enjoyed running in high school and college and fell out of it after graduation. Several years ago he picked it back up to get back into shape and challenge himself. After running several 5k's, he moved up to half and full marathons. He has now moved into Ultra Trail Running. Aaron has completed 50K's and 50 mile trail races. Aaron really enjoys running the half and talking with other racers and spectators during the race. He works hard to make sure all runners enjoy his/her race experience and takes pride in helping runners PR. Aaron is very excited to work with smart pacing to further help you achieve your goals!!

Mike only began running "competitively" 3 years ago, but had a lifestyle that including running for most of his life; growing up playing soccer, and then joining the Army after college. Since his first 10K in March 2013, he has completed 2 marathons, 6 half marathons, 8 Tough Mudders, one Triathlon (Sprint), and many more 5 and 10K's, to include various other obstacle/mud/fun runs.

Lauren started running several years ago when she was looking for a way to get outside and stay fit in college. Since then, she has completed numerous 5ks, 10ks, nine half marathons and one full marathon. Lauren loves the mental challenge of long-distance running and meeting new people from the running community. She has used the pacers to meet her goals and now wants to help others do the same. She uses the SmartPace strategy, warming up the first couple of miles, taking time to walk through the aid stations, and finishing strong. Lauren plans to help you enjoy your time on the course while cheering on other runners, thanking the volunteers and having fun crossing that finish line!

Megan has been running since the birth of her second daughter in 2010. She has run nearly 30 1/2 marathons, including 1 trail 1/2. She loves the 2:25 groups, describing them as the party crowd! She works as a Recreation Director for Garden Terrace at Overland Park, a Skilled Nursing Facility for individual's with dementia. She often races as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association. Megan enjoys meeting new people and exchanging running experiences and tips. She is excited to help you reach your race day goals!!

Baylie J. - 2:30 pacer
Baylie discovered her love for running while in middle school and spent her high school and college years sprinting around the track. After an 8 year (ish) gap, she re-discovered her love but decided to add a few more miles and started running 5ks and 10Ks. In 2012, she finally settled on the Garmin Half Marathon as her first and didn't look back after that. Since then she has completed over 15 half marathons and 5 marathons, which qualified her to be a member of Marathon Maniacs (#7914) in 2013. Earlier in 2015, she completed her first Ultra Marathon 50K (Virtual Cowtown) and followed it up with a solo finish of Brew to Brew and an attempt at the Canadian Death Race in August. She is very excited to do everything she can to help each runner finish and have a wonderful time while doing so!

While always physically active, Mary did not become a long distance runner until after the age of 40. She set a goal to run a full marathon as a “bucket list” item and in the process discovered a passion for running. She has now completed 14 full marathons and over 20 half marathons. She enjoys being in the company of other runners and encouraging them to achieve their goals. Mary’s hope is that you complete the race by not only meeting your goal, but also having fun in the process!

Kelly has been pacing half and full marathons since 2009. She follows the Smart Pacing philosophy - starting out slow to warm up, taking it easy on the uphills, taking advantage of the downhills, and walking through every aid station to fully hydrate. She is fully focused on helping each runner achieve their race goal while having fun along the way. Her goal is to have her runners cross the finish line ahead of her with a smile on their face!

Lindsey was active in high school and ran for fitness off and on through college. After the birth of her son in 2014, she picked up running to lose the baby weight. She set a goal in 2015 to run her first half marathon, and was able to complete 4 half marathons, 3 of which within 60 days - qualifying as a Half Fanatic (#12988)! What started as fitness goals, running became a passion and a way to relax and unwind. Lindsey is eager to encourage other people to run their best race. Lindsey's PR was set at the KC Half Marathon in 2015 with the help of the Smart Pacers and became a pacer to help others achieve their goals.

Jen caught the running bug in 2007 after completing her first half marathon. Since then she has ran countless half marathons and 2 full marathons. She is also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Her inspiration comes from her sister’s death from type 1 diabetes. Now she uses her knowledge to inspire others to start running & live healthy. Her goal is to encourage and help other runners reach their goal and have fun doing it. Her motto is “I run because I CAN!”

Scotty J. - 3:00 pacer
Inspired by her marathoner daughter and motivated by a MS diagnosis and wheelchair in her past, Scotty started running in January 2008. She just completed her 39th half marathon. Yes, that means the Inaugural Longview Half Marathon will be number 40! She has also completed 5 marathons and a spattering of 5 and 10 K's. Her goal this year has been to log more miles and continue to have fun doing it. Scotty was fortunate to meet the best pacers on the planet the first time she ran Hospital Hill Run. That experience with Janice and Kelly continues to motivate and inspire especially on the "today is not a good running day" days. Scotty has the honor of being a former Hospital Hill Run Hero and after that experience was bitten by the pacer bug. She will use every idea in the Magic Pacer Bag of Tricks to help you cross the finish line. Not being a speedster herself, Scotty recognizes and understands the unique challenges faced by "back-of-the-packers". The goal is not just to finish, but to recognize and take pride in the individual accomplishment. And, have a GREAT time doing it!

Layne starting running in 2011, and over time has made it more and more important in her life. Her goals have (slightly) altered from being a full time photographer into getting her personal training certification because she wants to motivate others towards their health goals.
Pacing is fun for Layne, and she is excited to jump in with both feet and help her runners cross the finish line happy and injury free! She wants you to sit back and not worry about time. You can depend fully on Layne to get you where you need to be.
